Organic Care of California BLOG

Here is a few Blogs written by the owners Chaz & Shantel Cornellier about the industry and things they have experienced or learned while owning a cannabis delivery service in Chico, Ca in 2017 under Prop 215 and then moving to Sacramento to own a State Liscensed Delivery, C9-0000003-LIC, immediately in 2018. It has been a crazy ride and Chaz loves to explain what the market is doing and how he sees the company doing in the near future.

California Fires will affect ALL Outdoor Cannabis!

California Fires will affect ALL Outdoor Cannabis!

In 2020, California alone has had 8,320 Fires (each 10+ acres), 31 Fatalities, 9,247 Structures Damages or Destroyed and 4 MILLION Acres burned this year ALONE! A few farms, cultivations and distributions centers have been lost in the fire and they didn't have insurance or didn't file it correctly in order to get paid out. But the biggest hit to the cannabis market is going to be ALL the outdoor and its quality.

Ash turns into Lye and is absorbed in the water table and the plant itself. Especially if the trichomes and buds are covered in Ashes. There will also be traces of heavy metals from all the buildings being burned. With Phase 3 testing for all cannabis products, I don't know if many of the outdoor crops will be able to pass the strict tests. Phase 3 testing tests; moisture, heavy metals, mold, pesticides and much more! The smell and look of the flower should also be affected by ashes in the air and horrible air quality. I am truly hoping it won't affect most the flower. But with fires being in almost every county, I don't see many gardens escaping the fire damage. I love outdoor and believe nothing beats the sun when it comes to light spectrum. When grown correctly outdoor can be amazing! But I see outdoor having problems being sold in the legal market and a lot of farms having to sell most of their crops black market.

One easy way for a cultivation to get around metric track and track is by easily saying they only grew 3/4 lb. per plant when they grew 4 lbs. Then they sell 3.25 lbs. per plant to the illegal market. Black market is easy to sell huge quantities, faster money, no complicated packaging of 1/8ths or 1/4's (Straight POUNDS! LOL) and sometimes actually for higher prices depending what state your selling your product to or in.
